Essential Responsibilities *Serve as single point of contact for technical issues for the customer and project manager *Direct efforts of engineers and designers, coordinate with sourcing and the project team on technical matters to meet project specifications, cost control and schedule objectives *Work with internal and external vendors to develop Smart Grid solutions including; Home area Networks, Meter Communication networks, substation automation, and integration into utility information systems *Develop test plans in implement tests on prototype equipment *Write equipment specifications, issuance of material purchase request forms, and vendor quotation evaluations *Interface with internal and external team members *Lead efforts for development of proposals including writing and/or reviewing technical specifications, estimating design man-hours and materials, supporting sourcing for vendor quotations, direct design and development of clarifications and exceptions as well as technical responses *Perform corrective actions and validate process control *Support quality initiatives including aspects of ISO9002 Qualifications/Requirements *Bachelor's degree in Engineering *Minimum 2 years of experience in the utility industry working with power distribution, electronic wireless communications, network security, bulk data services, and electronic devices Additional Eligibility Qualifications For U.S. employment opportunities, GE hires U.S. citizens, permanent residents, asylees, refugees, and temporary residents. Desired Characteristics *Excellent personal computer skills, including software development, and familiarity with AutoCAD / Microstation *Prior GE experience *BSEE degree *Professional Engineering registration (within the U.S.) *Minimum of 5 years of experience in distribution automation including meter communications, networks, security, and system integration *Detailed knowledge of Home area Networks, Meter Communication topologies, Utility information infrastructure, Security *Ability to engineer design packages when no clear customer specification is provided *Field-testing and commissioning experience *Demonstrated troubleshooting capability *Previous experience with utility power equipment *Ability to develop and implement standards and structured programs *Strong presence in front of the customer with demonstrated commercial experience such as Project Management *Effective communication and interpersonal skills *Ability to work in a team environment *Creative: Ability to lead a team and be accountable for team results in order to deliver a high quality product on time and under budget Why join one great company when you can join many?
